King’s Pantry Food Bank
King’s Pantry is our food bank that provides regular, practical support for local people in financial need. Since it started in 2013 we have delivered fortnightly, 60,000 items combining of food, household goods and toiletries, to around 15 families or individuals.
Each parcel will consist of a range of items including tinned and dried foods, toiletries and household products. Through King’s Pantry and Harpenden Money Advice Centre (HMAC), we have seen a number of people’s lives turned around. It is great to have the opportunity to show people the unconditional love of God through practical support. The good news is that we are seeing households get to the point where they no longer need our support. This means that their finances are moving in the right direction and they are moving out of debt. King’s Pantry is supported by a great team of volunteers who sacrificially give their time to this amazing work.
How to donate: Over the years supplies have mainly been provided through the generous donations of Bethany Community Church members, to whom we are so grateful. We have also been supported by several local schools and have received food donations from Harvest Festival assemblies. We continue to blessed by the Co-Op in Southdown, who have kindly set up a collection point and many from the local community donate items at that store -If you would like to give items to the King’s Pantry food bank, please contact our church office. Or provide donations at the collection point- Co-op Southdown, 130 Southdown Road, Harpenden, AL5 1PU.
Kings Pantry at Christmas: Each Christmas we provide Christmas hampers to Local families in need. In recent years we have been supported in this by Harpenden Academy through their Christmas gift scheme, whose support enables us to bless clients at a particularly difficult time of year.
